Read about our visit to Titahi Bay.

On Tuesday I went to Titahi Bay. I saw a starfish. It was blue and it had spots. I saw a jellyfish. It was pink. What a good day.

I had to put on my raincoat as soon as I got there because it rained all day long. The sand was wet like the sea. we found lots and lots of rubbish at Titahi Bay. There were even fish bones. I saw cans and shoes.

We saw some cans and lots of shoes at Titahi bay beach. We also found shells too. It was fun. We got to eat lunch at Titahi Bay. We got to go to the rocky shore. We saw little creatures. We got to play in the sand and pick up shells. It was great. The people from Island Bay came and they asked us some questions. Then we asked some back to them.

I saw a dead fish. I saw its bones. they were gray. I saw heaps of rubbish. i even saw a daiper. I was amazed at how many crabs I found. I saw little fish. one was purple and all the other ones were white. We put our bags under a trailer so they didn't get wet. I held heaps of crabs and I found heaps of paua shells.

I had a paua in my hand and it was coloured green. I found lots of shells. I found a dead fish. The big kids went sea diving but there was lots of rubbish. There was a glass bottle in the rock pools.

On Tuesday we went to Titahi Bay. At Titahi Bay we saw rubbish in the rock pool. The rock pool has cans and glass. In the rock pools we saw little creatures and big creatures. The little creatures and big creatures were not scary. After we went to the rock pool we ate our snack. After we played in the sand then we went on the bus. It was cool and fun.

Captain Cashtastic

Captain Cashtastic came to our class. He was telling us how to save our money so we can buy the things that we want. We had a lot of fun with Captain Cashtastic.

Our Visit to Titahi Bay.

We went to Titahi Bay. It was raining.

We looked in the rock pools and found some crabs.

We also found a starfish. It was a cushion star.

Titahi Bay is not a marine reserve. We found some little fish and crabs and starfish. We also found lots more rubbish.

Drains go into Titahi Bay. The water brings rubbish from the gutters and this makes the  rock pools dirty.

Can you see the oily stuff floating on the water? The sea creatures do not like living in dirty water. We need to help keep their habitat clean.

More Quality Work

Blubber hands

We wondered how whales keep warm when they are in the cold sea. We know whales have warm blood like us but we get cold in the water.
We had lots of ice. The ice floated like icebergs and the water was really cold.

We put our hands in the cold water and tried to leave them there for a long time. Our hands were freezing!

We made a "blubber glove" by putting some fat in a bag. We put our hand in another bag and then put it into the bag of fat.

We put our blubber hand in the water. It wasn't cold at all!

We put our hand in the water. It was so cold that it felt like your hand was broken. The blubber was different. It felt like you were in your bed all snuggled up. When we put our other hand in it was even colder!

I put my hand in the cold water. It was cold. I put my hand in the fat, then I put my hand in the water. It was so warm. We were seeing what it feels like to be a whale.
