| We have lots of pohutukawa trees. They have rough bark. They have red flowers at Christmas time. |

| There are some cabbage trees at our school. The Maori name is ti kouka. They have tough leaves that are long and skinny like flax leaves. |

| The kowhai tree has lots of little leaves and yellow flowers. It will get the flowers soon and the tui will come and drink the nectar. |

| The punga is a tree fern. It grows quite tall. The underneath of the leaf is silver. The All Blacks wear the silver fern on their jersey. |
